In July 2022 I cycled from Inverness to Fort William via the Great Glen Way with my good friend Grant. We underestimated the first leg big time but the second leg was a jolly in comparison. Both absolutely brilliant days out on the bike.

We wanted to make it a weekend trip so we didn't need to take any holidays from work so we got the 07:07 train from Glasgow Queens Street to Inverness on Saturday morning. We started cycling about 11am from Inverness before wild camping at Fort Augustus (~40miles/half way). Plenty of climbing on the first day but also lots of really nice gravelly descents.

Left Fort Augustus around 9am on the Sunday and was back in Fort William for early afternoon for a scran and a few pints before getting the 17:37 train back to Glasgow.

A magic weekend on the bike massively helped by the cracking weather. Would recommend it to anyone looking for a short bikepacking trip in Scotland.
